More than sport. We’re here to help.

Moreton Men Group CIC is a community organisation based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, dedicated to tackling loneliness, improving mental health and building stronger communities.

What began as a grassroots football initiative has grown into a multi-service organisation supporting people through sport, companionship, practical home support and genuine community connection.

Since launching in February 2024, we have supported around 400 people, built a community of over 250 active members, and created a safe, non-judgemental space where people can improve both their physical and mental wellbeing.

What we do

Sport & Wellbeing

Our sports programmes are the heart of Moreton Men. We deliver six-a-side football, eleven-a-side football, yoga, darts, and community activities that encourage people to stay active, build friendships and improve their wellbeing.

Companion Services

We are developing a volunteer-led companion service to support elderly and vulnerable people through social visits, shopping support, hospital appointments and meaningful companionship, helping reduce isolation across our community.

Decluttering & Home Support

Our practical home support service will provide affordable help with decluttering, gardening, decorating, cleaning and minor home improvements while creating valuable volunteering and employment pathways for local people.

Our achievements

We’re incredibly proud of what our volunteers and community have achieved:

  • 🏆 Abbeycroft Community of the Year Award winner 2025

  • 🏆 Bury Free Press Business Awards finalist – Contribution to the Community 2026

  • 🏆 Suffolk Community Awards – Highly Commended in the Whole Community Health & Wellbeing Award 2026

  • 🏆 Adam Townsend – BBC Make a Difference Awards finalist 2026

  • ⚽ Successfully hosted our first Sellebrity Soccer charity football event at Mildenhall Town FC 2026

Our vision

Our ambition is to become one of the UK’s leading community wellbeing organisations by expanding our services across Suffolk and beyond, developing commissioned partnerships with the NHS, housing associations and local authorities, and creating a permanent Moreton Men Community Hub where people can access support, wellbeing activities and community services under one roof.

I would 100% recommend getting involved with this organisation in any capacity you can, it’s not just a great place to meet/make new friends and get out of your comfort zone but it’s also a really good support network you can depend on during tough times. I personally joined here when I heard about what the club/organisation stands for as I thought it was a unique and brilliant idea for a team and in this time with the help of the members and club staff I have grown considerably as a person and bettered myself constantly, while being on a journey from working my way into the team to recently taking on the captaincy of the 11’s which has given me an immense sense of pride and feeling of value. I cannot thank the team at Moreton men’s enough for what they have done and continue to do for myself and others!
